MRYC is excited to announce new changes to our Junior Sailing Program for 2012 and beyond!
MRYC is hiring a world class sailor / instructor to head our Jr. & adult sailing programs. Our new Sailing director will be overseeing our team of instructors who will have arenewed focus on:
- Building a life long love of sailingwith an emphasis on sailing skills, safety, and fun.
- Facilitating communication between sailors, parents, instructors, coordinators, trustees, and MRYC flag officers.
- Develop curriculum for sailors interested in recreation and racing for all ages, abilities, and fleets.
- Weekly staff meetings between coaches, coordinators, and the Jr. Sailing trustee to discuss progress, goal setting and curriculum including feedback to sailors and parents.
- Provide guidance to sailors looking to move up to different classes and fleets.
Development of an MRYC Racing Team in multiple fleets – Optis, 420’s andLasers with the purpose of attending regattas to gain national exposure for our sailors.
Racing travel fleets will be revamped with multiple coaches in attendance at all regattas.
- To ensure sailors sign up in the proper fleet for their sailing abilities.
- Instructors will be on hand to assist with tuning, and pre-race strategy on and off the water, fully engaged with all MRYC participating sailors.
- Other activities such as rigging classes for all fleets throughout the season.
NEW! Adult / Jr. Sunfish regatta series during the summer open to all members of MRYC
- Fun, early evening races during the week with post race festivities afterwards at the club.
We will have a meet the new head instructor and official Program launch in February / March – date TBD.Come join us to hear more about these exciting new programs!

| US SAILING Championship comes to MRYC
|

Did you know that in 2013 MRYC will be hosting the US SAILING Single Handed Championship?
Congratulations on being accepted to host the 2013 U.S. Singlehanded Men’s and Women’s Championship. US SAILING is delighted that you will be hosting this prestigious national championships. While organizing such a large event can be time consuming and challenging, the rewards can be rich with members of your club having an opportunity to meet sailors from around the United States and share their love of this great sport.
As the Championship’s National Chair, I will be working closely with you as you prepare and am here to provide you with assistance right through the event.
I look forward to working with you in the months ahead and in the meantime, welcome aboard.

 Old friends and new gathered together at the MRYC Open House last Saturday Night to bid farewell to 2011. Thank you to Sharon Borgatti, Jane Carton, Holly St Clair, Heather Larson, Jack and Mary Tassini, John Dietz, Nancy Kerr, Janet Davis, and Lynn Miller who prepared a fantastic spread of both sweet and savory. As always, the staff and stewards successfully made the evening seamless. The club looked beautiful, still dressed in its holiday finery thanks to Lynn Miller, Melanie Flynn, and the Ladies’ Auxiliary. It was a perfect ending to an eventful year and a wonderful segue into the exciting year to
come. Best Wishes from the Senior Entertainment Committee for good health, good friends, and enough wind to fill your sail!

| TRUE BELIEVERS PARTY, DEC. 17, 2011

 Junior Entertainment had a stellar turnout on December 17th where 115 members dined on a scrumptious breakfast prepared by Doug Emich, Mark Morro and Pentti Ehrola – the expanded menu was a huge hit!
All the children anxiously waited to spot the “SS Santa” out on the river and made some beautiful crafts until Santa and his Elf were seen! The kids were smilin
g ear to ear, parents were “choked up”, and it was truly an amazing morning! This breakfast is definitely a great way to get in the Christmas spirit and kickoff the holiday season.
A special thanks to all those who made this event so wonderful including Brenda Fuller, Jennifer Marriott, Beth Smith, Betsy Tracy, Ned Thomson, Mary Lee Stamos, Nancy Wagner, Christine Lucarelli, Anne Nissim, Barbara Grasso, Tara Healey, MRYC Staff, Junior Entertainment Committee, Jayne Droge, and the House Committee for once again decorating the club so beautifully!
Also, we were overwhelmed with how many of you brought stocking stuffers that surely helped brighten someone’s Christmas! Mary Lee Stamos kindly took her children to drop off the Huge Stocking to Family & Children’s Services in Long Branch, and they were extremely gracious!
