Jr Sailing REGISTRATION

2 Week Introduction MRYC offers a 2 week introduction class 7/22 OR 8/2. Boat is included. Sailors will be working with an Opti trainer boat and learning basic sailing and racing skills More advanced sailors can participate in the 2 week program and will be placed accordingly with sailors/sailboat of similar skill level. Program runs M-F, 5 hours a day for 2 weeks.

Introduction Fleet (4 or 8 week) Introduction to sailing. This class is recommended for young first-time sailors. Child must be at least 7 by the start of program (6/24) Sailors learn basic water skills, boat rigging, sculling, knot tying and parts of the Optimist sailboat. Child will be involved in activities on and off the water. A boat is not required for sailors in the Intro Fleet. Class run M-F, 5 hours/day.

Beginner Fleet (4 or 8 week) New sailors 8+, and sailors who have completed a season in the Introduction Fleet are recommended for the Beginner Fleet. Your child will need a boat for this fleet. Sailors will continue to learn more advanced aspects of getting around a course. (Optis available to rent from club or you may provide your own Opti) Program runs M-F, 5 days/week.

Opti C/Mixed Fleet (4 or 8 week) Sailors who have completed Intro and Beginners may move up to Optic C/Mixed Fleet. New sailors (9+0 will be evaluated to be place in this fleet. Sailors interested in racing will concentrate on skills, strategies and rules of regattas. Sailors not on the racing track will continue to build confidence and independence on the water. Boat required. Program runs M_F, 5 days/week.
